Best Online Article

Finding a good web hosting provider might seem like an easy task. In reality it is not. As a regular browser of the internet I have got tons of e-mails(many of them in my spam too) regarding this and I have browsed through a couple of sites myself. It was just out of curiousity. But it also sparked up an interest in me. I began researching deeper into it.

That was when I bumped into this article from a site that provided genuine and valuable information about many a topic including the one about choosing the best web hosting provider. It contains all the information that you need to know about a web hosting provider, web server, determining your space needs etc. Did you know that web hosting providers may be divided into categories such as virtual hosts, dedicated servers or co-located servers. Each of these varies in the amount of web space, allowable band width use, customer support and technological expertise.
There are many criteria that must be considered before we proceed to selecting the right web server and this article is a must read for all those who are looking forward to doing the same. You may also be interested to read about the other technical topics that have been discussed. I dedicate this post to all the technology geeks!

Indian Hockey 2009

It may take some time for the Indian hockey to bring back its golden days, but 2009 showed that there was at least light at the end of the tunnel. Given the right environment, a revival is very much on the cards. It was a mixed bag for India in 2009. The men’s hockey team finished second best behind the Netherlands in the 4-nation Punjab Gold Cup, clinched the Sultan Azlan Shah Trophy after a gap of 13 years, but in spite of their top billing, drew a blank in the Asia Cup. The year ended with a bit of disappointment for the men as India lost to Pakistan in the semi-finals of the Champions Challenge I in Salta, Argentina. Having been in great form throughout the tournament, the 6-3 defeat against Pakistan meant India lost a great opportunity to qualify for the Champions Trophy in 2010. India beat hosts Argentina to win bronze as New Zealand beat Pakistan in the final. In spite of administrative issues and lack of exposure and facilities, it was finally Chak de for India’s women as they defeated formidable South Korea 3-2 to enter the final of the Asia Cup and grab a berth in the 2010 World Cup in Argentina.
Indian men had several golden opportunities throughout the year. They started sharing a 4-Test series against Argentina and it stood them in good stead going in to the four-nation Punjab Gold Cup which featured teams like Germany and the Netherlands. After denying Netherlands two wins in the group stage, India, at last, failed to maintain their success against the European powerhouse in the final. Netherlands pulled off an excellent 2-1 come-from-back victory. India paid for poor short-corner conversion rate as India messed up five short corners in the final.
India carried the momentum and confidence into the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, a tournament which they had not won for the past 13 years. But this time in Ipoh, India broke their jinx against hosts Malaysia. They won 3-1 to return comprehensive winners. This was India’s fourth cup win, the three others coming in 1985, 1991 and in 1995. Then came the low point. Needing an outright win to book a place in the semi-finals, India squandered a two-goal lead and settled for a 2-2 draw against China to see their title defence go up in smoke in the Asia Cup in Kuantan, Malaysia. Earlier in the tournament, India lost to Pakistan 3-2.
Apart from poor conversion rate and the ability to hold on to leads, India paid for lack in consistency on the field. Off the pitch, there was lack in consistency in hockey administration as well. With the Indian Olympic Association controlling hockey affairs, state units revolted against the defiant attitude of IOA president Suresh Kalmadi. With calls to re-establish the now defunct Indian Hockey Federation, the IOA was under pressure to hold free and fair elections to form a democratic unit. The IOA-formed Hockey India got its due recognition from the international hockey federation (FIH), but only just. India came on the verge of losing the 2010 World Cup as power-crazy officials fought among themselves and FIH insisted that state units be recognised to form a united body. Even if elections are due, hockey on the field didn’t suffer too much really. India finally got a new foreign coach. Jose Brasa, the man who guided the Spanish women’s team to gold at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, took the reigns over from stop-gap coaches Harendra Singh and Ajay Bansal. India’s love-affair with foreign coaches has not been good. Former Australian legend Ric Charlesworth made an acrimonious exit and hence Brasa will always be under pressure.
Brasa, a no-nonsense coach, started the process of “make-over” of the Indian team. It was largely due to him that the team played more exposure matches abroad. India played Test series in Canada, went on a three-nation European tour playing some top teams en route. The Champions Challenge defeat may be disappointing but at least the team has started winning matches. On a sadder note, goalkeeper Baljit Singh’s fledgling career was halted after an eye injury during a national camp in Pune. He was hit by a golf ball. Baljit is regaining vision after a series of operations in the United States. India’s captain Sandeep Singh is also recovering from injury. India can’t miss the prolific scorer in the Delhi World Cup in February-March next year. The 2010 World Cup at home will be crucial for India. Having lost the Champions Challenge I in Argentina, India could still mathematically qualify for the Champions Trophy in Monchengladbach in Germany in July-August, if they finish in the top 3 among the 12 participating nations.
With Germany having won the men’s Beijing Olympics gold in 2008, all eyes this year was on the Champions Trophy in Melbourne. Australia overcame a two-goal half-time deficit to beat Germany 5-3 and retain the Champions Trophy for a record 10th time. South Korea came from behind to defeat The Netherlands 4-2 and claim the bronze medal, and Spain downed England for fifth place. Argentina successfully defended their women's Champions Trophy title in Sydney, defeating Australia 4-3 on penalty strokes after 85 minutes of scoreless play. The loss puts Australia out of next year's Champions Trophy in England under the ranking system which determines participation. Olympic champions The Netherlands took bronze, defeating Germany 5-2 and England took the wooden spoon, losing 7-0 to China. As a last bit of recognition for Indian hockey, veteran striker Prabhjot Singh and Surinder Kaur found a place in the FIH All-Star squads. Prabhjot is in a squad of the world’s top 18 players to be coached by Charlesworth. In the women’s team, Surinder is the lone Indian player. The All-Star teams 2009 were selected by visitors of the FIH official website.

Welcome Back Kid

After three years in retirement Michael Schumacher will again grace the sport after signing a £20million, three-year deal with Mercedes GP. Schumacher's return has fanned the flames ahead of what is certain to be one of the most enthralling seasons in F1 history. Ecclestone, the sport's supremo, is convinced Schumacher's decision to end his days having fun on motorbikes and karts represents a huge fillip for F1, as well as for the man himself. "It is fantastic for Formula One that he turned into a comeback kid," said Ecclestone. "But at the same time it's good for Michael. When drivers have put in many years they sometimes lose focus and motivation - probably that was one of the reasons for his retirement in 2006.
"But now he has again put all his strength together and has a 100 per cent motivation level that will give us many exciting races in 2010. "I always said Formula One is a strong brand. It has demonstrated time and again it can pull itself up by its own bootstraps. "All indications point to a jaw-dropping season. Fans will love it."
Despite his time away from sport, and the fact he will turn 41 on January 3, Ecclestone has no doubt Schumacher can go on to add to his record seven world titles.
"Forget about winning races - I have him on my bill for winning the championship," exclaimed Ecclestone on the official F1 website. "He will be of immense value for the team to push the development of the car.
"We have all seen in the past he was never satisfied unless the car was in perfect condition. "With his drive for the optimum and deep technical understanding he will save the team precious time. "Nico Rosberg (Schumacher's team-mate) will be the one who will directly benefit from all this." The sport itself, at the end of a turbulent year that almost saw it torn apart by a civil war and with two further manufacturers opting to withdraw in BMW and Toyota, will also benefit enormously. As Ecclestone remarks, the sport needs characters, with Schumacher one of the charismatic, as well as controversial. Asked if this was again the time for characters in F1, Ecclestone replied: "There is no doubt about that. "Michael, as we all know, was and is one of the most outstanding characters F1 has ever created."

Getting Married For Health Insurance

I'd never been one of those girls who'd dreamt about her perfect wedding. The white wedding dress, the exorbitant costs, the fuss over a big, shiny rock -- none of it ever appealed to me. I wanted to find a lifelong partner, and a family sounded nice, too, but honestly? I never cared much about that piece of paper. So why did I just marry my boyfriend after pondering it for a mere two hours? One reason: health insurance. My now-husband is a bartender and a student whose school's insurance is exorbitant. The man hadn't gone to the doctor in years, living in fear of a major accident or illness. We had lived together for about eight months when I got a job as a reporter for a newspaper with a kick-ass medical plan. According to my job, a domestic partnership affidavit was standing in the way of my partner having awesome coverage and escaping $8000 worth of retroactive hospital bills. It was a no-brainer. Onto domestic partnership!
Problem is, the state of Illinois doesn't let you get domestic partnership if you're hetero. ("If they could, no one would get married!" the City Hall employee informed me smugly, as if 1) that fact was actually true and 2) rampant domestic partnerships would mean the end of the world.)
Apparently you can't be a part of the "system" if you're queer, and you can't opt out of the "system" if you're straight. It started to seem so ridiculously arbitrary -- and unfair! Did I really have to choose between leaving my honey vulnerable to unthinkable medical costs and a measly $50 certificate?
The choice was clear. We went ahead and got married. The weird thing wasn't the actual City Hall wedding (it was actually sort of fun!), it was watching people react to the news. Some were angry -- "How could you have gotten married without me there?" my best friend implored, crushed. Others were confused --"Really, Nona? I thought you weren't into that sorta stuff." The Frisky:Got engaged but not really in love with man But the most common reaction was voyeuristic elation -- from everyone, even my long-lost elementary school friends on Facebook. It was like I had become part of some coveted club, or even a higher-class citizen. I understood more than ever why gay marriage was such a big deal. I also started to get why people become so wrapped up in weddings. It's your moment. All eyes are on you. Suddenly, everybody loves you!
The Frisky: Boyfriend better give me good gifts Mine is a situation that's left me contemplating my principles. By getting insurance-married on the fly, did I "give in" or did I beat tradition? Maybe a little bit of both?
I have nothing against weddings -- nothing's better than a celebration of love -- and if my husband and I decide to get married "for real," I'm sure we'll have an epic one. But the government certificate thing has always made me indignant, especially nowadays when the health insurance crisis looms large. Why should one be able to have health insurance more easily because they happen to be heterosexual? Or, for that matter, if they believe in the institution of marriage enough to support it?

Fabe Always Fabulous

Fabregas was on the pitch for 28 minutes as a substitute after recovering from a hamstring injury and he scored twice before being replaced by Aaron Ramsey. Vermaelen said of Fabregas: "He was great. He had an injury and he did everything to make this game. He's a fantastic player. "We didn't create as many chances and when he came on he gave us more opportunities to score," Vermaelen added on Sky Sports 1. Fabregas put Arsenal ahead with a free-kick after 65 minutes which he curled over the wall and out of the reach of Brad Friedel. The Spaniard settled the contest with 10 minutes to go when he finished off a Gunners breakaway as he slotted the ball past Friedel after Theo Walcott had set him up from Armand Traore's long ball. But the midfielder was withdrawn with six minutes left after appearing to pick up an injury as he scored his second goal. Abou Diaby wrapped it up in injury-time when he ran at the Villa defence and curled a shot low into the corner from the edge of the area.
Vermaelen felt Arsenal deserved to win after being held by Villa in an even first half. He said: "We had a good game and I think we deserved to win. It's a good result for us. "Aston Villa became tired in the second half and you see the result. We defended well today as a team." Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed Fabregas had a recurrence of his hamstring injury. He added on Sky Sports: "It's a recurrence of his hamstring. We knew before the game it was not perfect. "We will see if we have long regrets or short regrets. I don't believe it's too bad, he doesn't think it's too bad."
Wenger is hoping the injury is not too serious, with a scar on the injured tissue the best prognosis rather than a new pull to the hamstring. He said: "If it's a pull again it's three weeks (out) so we hope it is only a scar." Wenger admitted he could not say whether the Gunners would have won without Fabregas. "That's very difficult to predict. I believe we were dominant. I believe in the last 20 minutes we could have made the difference (to win the game)." Wenger revealed he was considering signing a striker in the January transfer window because of Robin van Persie's ankle injury.

A Medal Winning Game Plan

It was an opportunity lost for many a hockey official, coach and player. At a time when Indian hockey is suffering for want of good governance and lack of vision, Marc Lammer's ‘talk' at the Global Sports Summit organised by FICCI at its New Delhi auditorium on Wednesday was just too good to miss. Unfortunately, no one worthwhile from the hockey fraternity was present. And, former Olympian and coach Jagbir Singh, a speaker on the panel, was absent as well. Professional advice doesn't come for free. And here was Lammers, a man who guided The Netherland's ladies hockey team to the gold medal at the Beijing Games this summer, speaking at a sports and business seminar. In a 20-minute speech that left the motley audience transfixed, Lammers dwelt on what it takes to make a champion outfit.
At a time when Indian women have qualified for the World Cup, Lammer's ‘free' talk could have been like gospel to India's hockey officials. Alas, the famous coach was only heard by a bunch of media people, corporate honchos and students who are unlikely to make any long-lasting impact on the game. Saying Spaniard Jose Brasa was doing a good job with the men's team, the savvy Dutch coach said India's women had tremendous potential but the "environment" had to be created for them. "They are not only skilful and women are better to teach," says Lammers, whose association with the Holland national side is now part of Dutch hockey folklore. The Dutch mindset may not work in India, but Lammers suggests: "think in possibilities and not in difficulties," indicating not to make excuses due to lack of finances. Currently training coaches in China and the United States, Lammers is keen to work in India after 2012. "I don't think a foreign coach is necessary to train the players. It is important to coach the coaches and the parents," says Lammers. He shared behind-the-scenes ‘secrets' of the Dutch ladies and what went in making them into Olympic champions. Simple and practical, Lammers says, "It is important to work on your strengths rather than your weaknesses," adding: "discipline, creativity and hard work," are the keys to success.

Warning Sign Has Been Given

Hughes was given the boot by the City owners with former Inter Milan coach, Roberto Mancini taking over with immediate effect. In his column for The Sun, Wright lambasted the three players. The former Arsenal striker said: "In Robinho, Emmanuel Adebayor and Joleon Lescott, these three signings, for various reasons, contributed to Hughes getting the boot. "Robinho and Adebayor are not players you would want in the trenches. "When you hear certain stories coming out of City about Robinho, he doesn't strike me as the kind of player a manager can hang his hat on, and Adebayor left a club like Arsenal among all sorts of player unrest stories.
"They have not lived up to their very expensive price tags and I have the feeling they will not care less that Hughes has been replaced." Wright was forthright as he passed judgement on Lescott who has been unable to produce the form he showed at Goodison Park. The former England striker added: "Lescott is an excellent player but was a bad signing purely in terms of how much was paid. City effectively got Everton into a headlock and made them sell a player they did not want to. "Of course, in the end, it was good business for Everton as £24 million is a hell of a lot of money.
"Yet they ended up with a player who, through no fault of his own, was worth nowhere near that amount of money and Lescott has found it very difficult to keep up to the standard of his price tag."
With Mancini already introduced to the press at a media conference on Tuesday, Wright is unsure if the Italian tactician can withstand the pressure at City. Wright explained: "Now, Mancini has been given a three-year contract but I wonder whether he will still be at Eastlands in three years time. "If he doesn't start doing well immediately, Mancini will find himself under pressure - particularly as he will buy big next month and City's owners will once again be expecting immediate results."

Arsenal Missing Its Best Mid Fielder

The 26-year-old Dutchman suffered an injury while on international duty in November and was initially expected to return to full fitness in six weeks. But instead surgery was required, and Wenger concedes the problem will keep Van Persie sidelined for several more months. "If you are very positive you would say [he'll be back in] April," Wenger told the club's website. "If you're a bit cautious you say May. It is virtually the rest of the season. "Personally I thought 'Let's put it in my head that he will not play again this season and hope that I will have a good surprise'."
However, Wenger is confident Van Persie will bounce back from the injury and rediscover his top form next season.
"When you have such a big surgery there is one thing that is important first of all, and that is the option of the surgeon, will he be the player he was before? We had a clear answer. 'Yes'. "The second thing that is very important in the first stage after surgery is has he an infection or not? He hasn't. "The third thing is patience. At the moment he cannot do anything, he is just sitting at home waiting until he can work again. The first two steps have been very successful." With such an important member of his attack gone, Wenger is expected to dip into the transfer market next month and the Frenchman admitted he would have no problem signing a player who is cup-tied for the Champions League, just as he did in signing Andriy Arshavin last January.
"Yes, I would," Wenger said when asked. "We are going for the domestic title and the FA Cup as well and doing that allows you to rest a player for the Champions League or play another player in the Premier League. "Of course I would prefer the player who can play in both competitions and so it would mean the player has the quality to play in the long-term for Arsenal Football Club. "But we have an interested eye on the transfer window and if the right player turns up then we will do it.

This Is Suppose To Be A Bad Run

Two defeats in three games has left United four points adrift of leaders Chelsea, who have hardly been in the best of form themselves. As Sir Alex Ferguson's men are not in action again until they visit Hull on December 27, the chances are things will get worse before they get better. But Evra is remaining optimistic. The Frenchman feels three points at the KC Stadium plus another victory against Wigan at Old Trafford on December 30 will put the Red Devils right back in the hunt ahead of a mini break, when cup football takes over. "It's a crucial time," he said.
"We lost against Aston Villa and Fulham but the target is to win every game we can from now on. "We always do well in this period and now, more than ever, we need victories." It hardly needs to be stated where United's problems lie. Ferguson had eight senior defenders missing at Craven Cottage and was forced to deploy a back three that included rookie Ritchie De Laet. Although it does not completely explain why they were so bad against Bobby Zamora and company, it does provide a starting point.
Yet, shoved into a position he has no experience in, Evra actually thinks Michael Carrick has done quite well. "He has quality," said Evra. "He doesn't have to play all season at the back but he can do it for some games." From past statements, Gary Neville's groin injury is expected to be the quickest to heal of United's various ailments. Whether that comes it time for Sunday is open to doubt, which means Evra will have to carry on talking to the men around him. Evra said: "I try to give experience at the back and make sure we all speak to each other.

No Newspaper In Training ground

The club believe the players may be unsettled by the banner headlines and have decided not to allow newspapers into the venue. City have also have insisted they did not lie to fans over when they approached Roberto Mancini to become their new manager. Mancini revealed on Monday he had met City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak two weeks ago but club chief executive Garry Cook said negotiations with the Italian only began on Thursday last week - two days before Mark Hughes was sacked. Cook did state the decision to consider replacing Hughes was taken three weeks ago but fans have contacted City to complain about the club's conduct. As a result, City have issued a statement saying Cook "absolutely" did not lie to fans. The statement said: "Garry Cook and new manager Roberto Mancini together took to the stage to give journalists and, more importantly, our fans the complete picture of the events of the past few days and weeks.
"The outcome was characterised in way which has suggested that the football club and Garry Cook has lied to its fans. Manchester City would like to point out that this is absolutely not the case." The statement points out Cook stated during Monday's press conference that "the decision to look at managerial options was taken only three weeks ago after the Hull game, but I think it is important for people to know that Roberto was only offered the job after the Spurs game; we negotiated on Thursday and finalised his agreement on Friday". Mancini, when questioned on when he was first contacted by the club, replied: "Two weeks ago, I met Khaldoon for the first time. But they called me the day after the Tottenham game. Not before."
The statement adds: "In light of the fact that both Garry Cook's and Roberto Mancini's responses are consistent, it is with some surprise that we and our fans read some of today's reporting." It is understood that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed support for Hughes in a telephone call to the former Red Devils striker following his dismissal. Meanwhile, Nedum Onuoha has intensified Mancini's immediate concerns about City's injury list by being ruled out for up to four weeks.

Fab Ready For The Bash

Fabregas limped off before the break during the draw with Burnley in a match that left Wenger fuming at the fixture compilers and the Premier League defending their schedule. Wenger immediately ruled his captain out of the clash against Hull on Saturday, although the injury may not be as bad as first feared. "Cesc had a scan today," said Wenger. "We have not had the result yet. "The only thing that is sure is that he will not play on Saturday. "Beyond that, it all depends on the scan. Is it a tightness that just presents a small risk on Saturday or is it a slight strain - grade one or two? We'll know that later.
"If it is a tear it is a small one and the maximum would be 10 days. So it is not long-term." Denilson could deputise for Fabregas against Hull after recovering from a back problem. "Denilson is back and available for Saturday," Wenger said on Arsenal TV Online. Nicklas Bendtner, Tomas Rosicky, Gael Clichy and Armand Traore will be unavailable, and Wenger said: "The first back should be Traore, maybe for Aston Villa (on December 27)." Wenger was furious after being asked to play Liverpool on Sunday and Burnley on Wednesday before hosting Hull on Saturday, while Phil Brown's side have enjoyed a free week. Frenchman Wenger suggested "the guy who organised the fixtures this season must have come out of a special school, because he is more intelligent than I am" but is unlikely to face action from authorities over his clumsy statement.
The Premier League, however, strongly stand by the way the fixtures have been arranged, given that the campaign finishes earlier than last season due to the World Cup. "The Premier League fixture calendar is a complicated process," a Premier League spokesperson said. "It is as fair as possible to the clubs who all take an active part in the process ahead of the fixtures being announced. "This Barclays Prem
ier League season has been a particularly difficult one to schedule given an increased amount of Champions League and Europa League dates from UEFA, and a truncated season because of the FIFA World Cup. That will not be the case next season." Other factors for the way fixtures have been compiled include the Champions League last-16 matches being played over four weeks rather than two, while the final of the competition being on a Saturday impacts on the FA Cup final.
There is also an argument that issues could have been brought up during the Fixtures Working Party at the start of the season when representatives from clubs, the Football Association, police and fans' groups met. Wenger reacted after his side dropped points at Turf Moor and saw captain Cesc Fabregas limp off with a hamstring injury during the 1-1 draw. Gunners midfielder Abou Diaby said: "We have to get closer to Chelsea and catch them and that is why we're so disappointed that we couldn't take another step and we lost some points. It is very frustrating.
"This league is very tough and everyone knows that. The most important thing is to focus on the next game." The Burnley result left Arsenal eight points behind league leaders and London rivals Chelsea, but Diaby believes victory over Hull at the Emirates Stadium will lift spirits.
The Frenchman, whose start at Burnley was his first since suffering a calf injury against Wolves a month ago, said: "We are very disappointed because, from the last three games, we wanted to continue our winning run. "We missed our chance to kill the game and at the end we drew, so we are very disappointed. "Burnley are a good team. We knew at home they are very strong and it would be difficult to beat them.

I Will Stay Here TIll I Retire

The Reds have failed to make it through to the last 16 of the Champions League, while they are also out of the Premier League title race after slipping 13 points behind leaders Chelsea. Liverpool had been expected to mount a much stronger challenge for silverware on all fronts after an encouraging 2008/9 campaign and their miserable form has sparked speculation about the future of manager Benitez. There have been suggestions that he could leave Anfield but Torres does not believe he would want to go out on such a low note. "It looked like this was going to be our season, but it's turned out very differently from what we expected," the Spanish striker said in the Daily Star. "I don't think Rafa will leave, especially halfway through the season.
"He still has four years to run on his contract, and he would not leave through the back door. "Were he to leave, it would be with the team at the top. He's been given time, space and full control of every area of the club. "Rafa wouldn't be able to enjoy the same benefits elsewhere." Reports have also linked Torres with a move away from Liverpool but he has reiterated his commitment to the club. The 25-year-old insists he will stay regardless of what happens with Benitez, although he would like to work under his current boss for as long as possible. "I still have four years left on my contract and my future is here," he said. "It's not linked to Rafa's, but I hope that we can see out our contracts here together. "Right now I don't see myself playing elsewhere.

Growing Stronger Now A Days

Martin O'Neill's Villa side leapfrogged above Arsenal into third place with victory over Sunderland last night. Chelsea remain top of the Barclays Premier League but only on goal difference over Manchester United who beat Wolves 3-0. But the Blues have the chance to restore their three-point lead with victory over lowly Portsmouth at Stamford Bridge tonight. While Chelsea manager Ancelotti is well aware of the threat posed by United, Villa are the team he believes could upset one of the familiar big four - Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool - and cement a Champions League spot this season. "Aston Villa are a very dangerous team," said Ancelotti. "They won against Chelsea and Manchester United. I think Martin O'Neill is doing a fantastic job with this team. "Maybe we have to pay attention to them because nobody spoke about Aston Villa in the top four but now we have to pay attention to this team. I think Arsenal have to pay attention to them."
Ancelotti's side will be looking for their first win in five games against Portsmouth, who are now led by former Blues boss Avram Grant. Grant returns to Stamford Bridge for the first time since being sacked by the Blues soon after the Champions League final defeat against Manchester United in 2008. But Chelsea could be without 18-goal Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba, who hurt his back in training yesterday. Ancelotti revealed that Drogba had to leave their training session after sustaining the injury which now threatens his participation against the struggling south coast side. It will be a bitter blow for the Blues if Drogba misses out as he was outstanding against Everton - scoring two goals in their 3-3 draw last Saturday.
"We had a problem yesterday morning with Drogba," admitted Ancelotti. "He took a knock on the back and I don't know if he will be able to play tonight."
Chelsea have also been suffering from defensive jitters, with all three Everton goals in their 3-3 draw on Saturday coming from set-pieces. Ancelotti insists he was not angry after that game but does admit to losing his temper with the Chelsea players after their 2-2 draw with APOEL at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League. "To become angry does not mean you lose control," said Ancelotti. "Sometimes with the team and the players, you have to show your disappointment. It doesn't mean you lose control." The former AC Milan coach will try to speak with the Italian club's owner, Silvio Berlusconi, in the next few days. Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi suffered a broken nose and teeth from an attack during a rally in Milan's Piazza Duomo earlier this week.

Good Show By Kallis

Kallis (112 not out), playing as a specialist batsman because of his broken rib, proved he has lost none of his hunger for runs and showed a tiring attack no mercy with his 32nd Test hundred in a stumps total of 262 for four. His 177-ball century - his sixth against England - was powered by personal intent on his return from injury, but it also underpinned a significant statement of collective South African ambition this winter. For England, Andrew Strauss' understandable decision to bowl first backfired in glorious sunshine but on a pitch still displaying the green patches that had startled so many. It's all about numbers The selection of only a three-man pace attack, to accommodate extra batsman Ian Bell, was also far from vindicated - particularly with Graham Onions out of the equation for two hours from mid-afternoon onwards because of a calf strain. The sight of Paul Collingwood and Jonathan Trott's medium-pace helping to eke out time until the second new ball - with Graeme Swann bowling unchanged for 24 overs from the pavilion end - was ominous.
After the near immediate and runless departure of captain Graeme Smith to Stuart Broad this morning, England had to labour long and hard for only three further gains in more than six hours. Kallis batted as if he had never been away, in South Africa's first Test since March and his first innings in any cricket for more than a month.
He survived an lbw appeal review on 35 when James Anderson thought he had hit him just in line with off-stump - a case that remained unproven - while Ashwell Prince had earlier benefited from a successful first recourse in this series to the new system. On that occasion, with Prince 19 on his way to a typically stoic 45, Steve Davis overturned his own lbw verdict. It seemed there must surely be some early help for England's pace bowlers - and Broad duly had the big wicket of Smith with only his third delivery, in the second over of the match.

Khan Wants Lehmann To Retire

Kahn and Lehmann sustained a bitter feud for several years when they were both fighting for the Germany number one jersey, but they appeared to make peace at the 2006 World Cup when Kahn retired from international football. Two years later, Kahn brought his glittering football career to an end just short of his 40th birthday, but Lehmann has carried on playing after turning 40. But after he stole the wrong headlines this week, first for criticising his club and then for storming off at the end of their 1-1 draw with Mainz after receiving a red card and giving away a penalty, Kahn has advised him to bring the curtain down on his career now.
"Maybe it would be better for him to retire now," Kahn told the Az newspaper. "Who knows where things might yet lead.
"Jens is a good goalkeeper, but what should the management (at Stuttgart) think?
"There is no point to it anymore. Stuttgart's management have got to work out whether Lehmann is helping or damaging the team." Lehmann will definitely miss Stuttgart's final Bundesliga fixture of 2009 against Hoffenheim due to suspension, although he may be banned for up to three matches. He stamped on Mainz striker Aristide Bance's foot in the 86th minute of Sunday's game to leave his side with 10 men and give Mainz a penalty, which they converted for the final 1-1 scoreline.
However, after a talk with coach Christian Gross at training yesterday, it does not seem like Lehmann is going to follow Kahn's advice. "I am convinced that Jens will be fully motivated after the preparation for the second half of the season and will do all he can to end his career on a high in the summer of 2010," said Gross. Lehmann must still meet with the club's director of sport Horst Heldt when possible sanctions for his behaviour will be discussed, as will the 40,000-euro fine they imposed last week which the former Germany international has refused to pay.

Something Is Happening Here

Philippines authorities Tuesday started evacuating about 50,000 people living around the island nation's most active volcano after it oozed fiery lava and belched clouds of ash. A large-scale eruption was forecast as imminent. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology raised the alert level up a notch on Monday night to level 3. Scientist Alex Baloloy told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) that under level 3, "a full-blown eruption is expected to take place within weeks to days." He said seismic instruments detected 83 volcanic quakes, a majority of which were tremors associated with rockfalls. People in Albay province, about 466 kilometers (290 miles) south of the capital, Manila, flocked to town centers to catch a glimpse of glowing lava cascading down the slopes of Mayon. The volcanic mountain soars 2,464 meters (8,077 feet) into the sky and has erupted 49 times since the first documented erupted in 1616.
Ash fell on the town of Guinabatan, prompting its mayor to predict an unwanted sort of white Christmas, PNA said. Provincial Gov. Joey Salceda, ordered mandatory evacuation for residents of 45 towns and cities within a radius of 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) around Mayon, including Legazpi, Ligao, Tabaco, Daraga, Camalig, Guinobatan, Malilipot and Santo Domingo. The Albay Public Safety Emergency and Management Office said 9,946 families or 47,285 people were expected to be moved to safer ground within 72 hours, PNA reported. Salceda, who canceled a planned trip to Denmark for the global climate conference in Copenhagen, said he will meet with the provincial disaster coordinating council Tuesday to discuss emergency measures in case of an eruption, according to PNA.
The Philippines is situated in the so-called Ring of Fire, an arc of fault lines circling the Pacific Basin that is prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Mayon's most violent eruption, in 1814, killed more than 1,200 people and devastated several towns. Its last major eruption was in 1993.

Im The Verminator

The Belgium international joined the Gunners from Dutch giants, Ajax Amsterdam in the summer and has slotted into the first team with ease. His defensive partnership with William Gallas has been one of the main reasons for Arsenal's strong showing this season but Vermaelen reckons its Wenger who makes the real difference. Speaking to the club's official website, Vermaelen said: "I don't mind if people call me The Verminator, because if they think I can help toughen the team up when needed, good. I think I can do that, "The main reason I like playing for Arsenal is the vision of the boss, the way he wants us to play.
"I believe we can win trophies playing this way. What is the vision? The vision is basically for a young team who all share the same philosophy to play good football, to grow and eventually win a big trophy. "I know there are many critics who say that playing a certain way then good things can't happen but maybe they should just think for a while and look at how a team like Barcelona has grown and how they play. Look around at their side. They don't have many strong players but they have been winning big trophies."

Thats A Wonderful Line-Up

The Malaysia-backed marque will have Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli in the cockpit of their cars as Lotus returns to F1 for the first time since 1994. As one of four new teams on the grid for next season, Fernandes admits he is still pinching himself at being able to lure two drivers of such calibre. "We have not even finished our first race car, so to attract two race winning drivers to the team is a huge achievement and honour," reflected Fernandes. "I think it is a testament to our ambition and long-term vision we have such talent on our books in year one. "It is further proof we are serious about what we do, and I am sure the other new teams are looking at us with some envy right now." Given the fledgling nature of the team, the CEO of AirAsia insists there will be no undue pressure placed on Kovalainen and Trulli to immediately score results and points.
Asked as to his expectations of the duo, Fernandes said: "It is more a question of what we all expect from each other rather than just from the drivers. "Next season will be the first for Lotus F1 Racing and we have a lot to achieve in a short space of time. "As with any new venture, it is a case of 'all hands on deck'. "Everybody has a vital role to play, but it is about bringing a new team together and gelling.
"The drivers each bring different experience to the team and I think the combination of their skills will help us quickly establish ourselves as the ones to watch in 2010 and beyond." Kovalainen, who has spent the last two years in the shadow of Lewis Hamilton at McLaren, is under no illusion as to the difficulties he and Trulli will likely face at a debut team.
The Finn, who has one race victory in Hungary and one pole to his name, said: "I always race to win and I will do everything as if I was preparing to put the car on pole. "But of course we have to be realistic and keep the focus on developing the team to a state where we can operate like any other current top F1 team. "It will not be easy and we will have tough times at the beginning, there's no question about it. "But as long as we keep improving all the way through the year and have earned the respect of the other top teams on the grid, then we can be pleased about the first year." Trulli, a veteran of 219 grands prix, also appreciates a degree of realism needs to be applied for the first year. However, the 35-year-old Italian sees no reason why Lotus cannot be pushing for points towards the end of the year once they have established a foothold.
"We are one of the new teams, so we have to prove ourselves and to gain respect in the paddock," assessed Trulli. "We have to establish ourselves as the best of the new teams and see what gap we have between us and the rest. "Only then will we really understand what gains we need to make during the season. "The points system has changed to reward the top 10 drivers, so I would like to see us making progress towards the top 10 by (the final race in) Abu Dhabi." Malaysian Fairuz Fauzy, who has previously tested for Spyker and competed in GP2 and A1GP, has been handed the role of reserve and test driver. Lotus have also unveiled their logo, a combination of green, white and yellow, and a definite pointer towards their livery as the team honours the historic name's prior racing heritage.

It Was Crew Members Fault

Colgan Air -- under fire for hiring, training, pay and commuting policies after the February crash of Flight 3407 near Buffalo, New York -- is blaming pilot error for the wreck, which killed all 49 people aboard and one person on the ground. In a 67-page report submitted to the National Transportation Safety Board, Colgan blames the captain and first officer, citing a litany of lapses that Colgan said ultimately led to the commuter plane's crash. Colgan said the crew did not respond appropriately to warnings the plane was entering an aerodynamic stall, did not complete checklists and failed to follow "sterile cockpit" rules that prohibit unnecessary conversation during critical phases of flight. Colgan concluded the crash was caused by the crew's "loss of situational awareness and failure to follow Colgan Air training and procedures." After the crash, Colgan said the pilot, Capt. Marvin Renslow, had failed three pilot tests, known as "check-rides," before joining the airline, but had disclosed only one on a job application. He failed another two check-rides while at Colgan Air.
In August, Philip Trenary, president and CEO of Pinnacle Airlines, the parent company of Colgan Air, testified at a Senate hearing that while "a failure on a check-ride is not necessarily a reason for someone not to fly, it depends on what kind of failure it is." "The failures that we were unable to see were the basic fundamental failures that you would not want to have," Trenary testified. "Let me stress one thing, Capt. Renslow was a fine man by all accounts," Trenary said in August. But he added, "Had we known what we know now, no, he would not have been in that seat." At the time of the crash, Renslow had 3,379 hours of flight experience -- 172 hours in the Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 turboprop, the type of plane involved in the accident.
In Colgan's submission to the NTSB, the company describes its hiring process as rigorous. But, Colgan said, Renslow "was not truthful on his employment application." Renslow did not disclose two of the three proficiency checks he failed, Colgan said. Colgan said it followed federal rules requiring airlines to seek applicants' records, but it was unable to get some of Renslow's information because "Renslow was not employed as a pilot at the time" of his failed check rides. At the time, there was no published guidance on obtaining information from the Federal Aviation Administration, Colgan said. The airline also said Renslow and First Officer Rebecca Shaw did not manage their work schedules properly. While both operated flights out of Newark, New Jersey, Renslow lived in Tampa, Florida, and Shaw lived in Seattle, Washington.
During public hearings before the NTSB in May, airline critics said low pay led crew members to live far from their home bases, contributing to fatigue. But Colgan said its pay and commuting policies were not to blame. Renslow had 27 hours between flights and Shaw had four days off before the crash, the airline said. "Colgan Air expects its pilots, and all its employees, to present fit for duty, regardless of where they reside," the Colgan report said. Shaw "did not plan her personal time properly prior to reporting to duty," the airline said. "Rather than commuting to [Newark] on February 11 and staying in a hotel, she chose an overnight commute." Shaw earned $26 an hour and was guaranteed 75 hours a month, putting her salary at a minimum of $23,400 a year, Colgan said. But she was on pace to earn "well in excess" of the minimum, the airline said. In a separate submission, the Air Line Pilots Association did not discount the role of the pilots, but said the "fundamental training this crew needed for the situation faced the night of the accident was inadequate." Further, the association said, the Q400 aircraft did not have, nor was it required to have, systems that would have alerted the pilots that the airspeed was abnormally low.

Kiwi's Made It Happen

The summit clash between the two top ranked teams began on an aggressive note, with penalty-corner specialist Sohail Abbas scoring in seventh minute to put Pakistan ahead 1-0. Black sticks replied with a penalty-corner conversion 10 minutes later with Ryan Archibald deflecting on the post. In the 20th minute, New Zealand scored a sumptuous goal with Phillip Burrows, diving full length to deflect a cross from the left, giving his team a 2-1 lead. Pakistan could not penetrate the compact rival's defense and tried to use long passes but in vain. In the last minute of first-half Rehan Butt pounced on a ball in the crowded circle and acrobatically managed to shoot it out of reach of Pontifex, levelling the scores. In the second half, Kiwis' went in the offensive with Simon Child, Phillip Burrows and Ryan Archibald, circulating the ball with speed and accuracy. Their best chance was made by Nicholas Wilson, who deflected the ball from close range on the crossbar, but the score did not evolve. Pakistan had chances to shot into lead but wasted three more penalty-corners. New Zealand scored two goals in quick succession in the last five minutes, first by Steven Edwards and then with Phillip Burrows, both at the conclusion of fast offensive moves that swept away the Pakistani defense. Sohail Abbas missed another penalty-corner and New Zealand were celebrating their first Champions Challenge victory with their traditional haka, traditional Kiwi dance.

Is It A Boom Or Boon

Microsoft launched Windows 7 in late October to much fanfare. But, just like with previous Windows upgrades, complaints about bugs have already started rolling in. A whopping 31% of clients have reported problems with upgrading to Windows 7, according to a recent survey of more than 100,000 customers conducted by consumer helpdesk firm iYogi. "Most of the problems that customers have with Windows 7 have to do with installation, or application and data migration," said Vishal Dhar, co-founder of iYogi. "These are all fixable problems, but they're annoyances and they're time consuming." One common gripe, experienced by 9% of installers, is that the half-hour to an hour-long upgrade process gets to the "62% completed" point and then freezes. It's a problem that Microsoft is aware of, and can be fixed by rebooting the computer, going into advanced settings, and typing in a code that instructs the computer to ignore plug-ins.
However, issues didn't stop with the upgrade process. Many users still experienced glitches even after successfully installing Windows 7 on their machines.
Most common among those complaints was that basic "applet" programs, like Mail, Movie Maker and Photo Gallery, were missing. That's because Windows 7 deletes those programs and makes users download them from the Windows Live Essential Web site. IYogi said 26% of their customers were confused about that extra step. Others had problems getting their computers to work properly: Eight percent said their DVD drives couldn't be found and 2% couldn't sync their iPhones with Windows 7. One in seven users also complained that the sleek new "Aero" theme doesn't work. The Aero theme enables users to see through a window to view the desktop or other programs that are open behind it. According to iYogi, most of the 14% of users that have problems with Aero don't have the graphics capabilities on their PCs to handle the program.
PC sales spike with Windows 7 debut Other common complaints included an inability to view file extensions, too many "mini-dumps" (memory images saved on the computer when it crashes), problems with the "Aero snap" feature, changes to custom icons and problems with the new taskbar. Microsoft (MSFT, Fortune 500), which debuted Windows 7 on Oct. 22, did not return requests for comment. Smoother sailing once it's debugged. Once the bugs from upgrading have been worked out, users have had a relatively hassle-free experience. And those who bought a new computer with Windows 7 preloaded have seen the fewest issues. "Customers who finally get it up and running love Windows 7," said Dhar. "We haven't had a lot of people calling for usability issues, because it's a much more intuitive interface than Windows XP." That's not to say that Windows 7 is perfect. According to Zeus Kerravala, an analyst at Yankee Group, one of the biggest annoyances with the new operating system is that the "ribbon menus" at the top of programs have been redesigned and must be relearned. In previous Windows versions, the menus remained very consistent (File, Edit, View, Insert, etc.), but in Windows 7, they can be wildly different from application to application.
"It took me a long while to figure out how to print," said Kerravala. "Microsoft tried to improve the user interface, but there's a learning curve because it's inconsistent." Microsoft also did away with many favorite applications like Windows Movie Maker, which is particularly surprising given the propensity of cell phone videos and Flip video camera movies.

Bad Run For Liverpool Still Continues

Manager Rafael Benitez had insisted the season started again today after the midweek Champions League defeat to Fiorentina. But he did not get his wish even though Liverpool led at the break through Dirk Kuyt and should have had a penalty when William Gallas felled Steven Gerrard. Arsenal grabbed two quick goals through a Glen Johnson own goal and an outstanding winner from Andrey Arshavin to heap more misery on the men from Merseyside. Arshavin hit four last season in a 4-4 draw, but this time one was enough. Bill Shankly's first official day behind the manager's desk at Liverpool was 50 years ago tomorrow, and Benitez will sit uncomfortably in that same office after this. Liverpool made six changes from the side dumped out of the Champions League in midweek, with Fernando Torres back in the starting line-up for the first time since early November. Fabio Aurelio was brought in at left-back against the pace of Theo Walcott. Arsenal were unrecognisable from the side that lost to Olympiacos in Greece, only Walcott being retained by manager Arsene Wenger.
With Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Spurs all dropping points 24 hours earlier, both sides were desperate to take advantage.
And at last Anfield was treated to a pulsating clash after weeks of insipid displays. The tempo and passion came from both sides and Liverpool could have had two goals in the opening 13 minutes. First Torres broke away, fed Gerrard to his right and then took the return before failing to lift the ball over Almunia when clear.
Two minutes later referee Howard Webb controversially denied Liverpool a penalty when Gallas felled Gerrard. The Liverpool skipper may have pushed the ball too far, but Gallas clearly took Gerrard's legs. Denilson was booked for a high tackle on Mascherano as Liverpool poured forward. Arsenal survived, at times with difficulty, but still sought to play their intelligent, passing football out of defence.
Samir Nasri fired wide and Cesc Fabregas tested Jose Reina as the threat on the break from the Gunners became increasingly apparent. But four minutes from the break Arsenal finally cracked. Aurelio lifted a free-kick into the six-yard box, where Almunia, under intense pressure in the air, managed only a weak punch and Kuyt fired home from 10 yards.
Arsenal were furious with a supposed aerial assault on their goalkeeper, Wenger making the point angrily to fourth official Andre Marriner. The Gunners' chief was even more upset two minutes later when it looked like Aurelio stopped Walcott's run with an arm across his face. Only a booking ensured. Arsenal came out after the break fired up for the challenge and were level after 50 minutes. Nasri tore down the right and fired in a low cross that Johnson turned past Reina for an own goal with Walcott lurking behind him. Mascherano was soon booked for a foul on Fabregas and it was soon to get worse for Liverpool, and especially Johnson. Fabregas' cross after 58 minutes eluded Johnson, who then failed to stop Arshavin turning to fire in off the post from 18 yards. Benitez finally turned to Aquilani with 25 minutes left, Mascherano making way, and with the watching Xabi Alonso applauding from the directors' box as the man bought to replace him trotted on.
But Aquilani made little impact and finished the game limping. As much as the first half had been so positive for an aggressive Liverpool, the second was becoming deeply frustrating. Passes started going astray, Liverpool were no longer in Arsenal's faces, rather chasing their heels. The passion had gone from Liverpool and the accomplished young Gunners had a measure of control they were not going to lose.
Arshavin was booked for one too many late challenges on defenders clearing the ball, then Fabregas for kicking the ball away from a free-kick.

India Lost In Semi Against Pakistan

In-form India, who were Group A toppers with an unbeaten record, failed to find the bearings at the last four match. They dominated for most part of the match but failed to convert the chances that came their way. As is often happened in Indian hockey team, the opponents scored from the few chances they got and Pakistan were 3-1 up at the end of half time. The match was the usual classic exhibition of hockey artistry which is the case when the two sides clash but that was of no use for India.
India now face Argentina for the third-place play-off. Pakistan play New Zealand in the summit clash and winner will qualify for the 2010 Champions Trophy in Monchengladbach, Germany. New Zealand had beaten Argentina 3-2 in the other semifinal.
All the Indian goals came from penalty corners through Dhananjay Mahadik (eighth and 62nd minutes) and Diwakar Ram (67th minute). As early as the second minute, goalkeeper Adrian D'Souza failed to stop a seemingly harmless shot by Rehan Butt to concede the lead to Pakistan and from then onwards India were doing the catch-up job. India though equalised quickly in the eighth minute with Dhananjay Mahadik sounding the board with a well-executed penalty corner. India were then playing with one-man advantage with a Pakistani player cooling off for five minutes at the bench for a dangerous foul. India had the momentum after that equaliser and Salman Akbar in the Pakistani goal faced a barrage of shots after spectacular moves that pleased the crowd.
Adrian made up for his initial mistake by stopping Rehan at the top of circle. But there was little he could do on a phenomenal shot by Rehan in 29th minute which gave Pakistan the lead. Penalty-corner specialist Sohail Abbas then found the target three minutes later and Pakistan were leading 3-1 going into the breather. After resumption, India got a couple of chances only to be wasted. Excellent work by captain Rajpal Singh earned them a penalty-corner but India could not convert it.
They had a long period of domination, with a massive chance for Rajpal after a quick series of passes in the circle, but his deflection on the far post was just wide.
With time ticking on, India pressed more players upfront, exposing in the process their defence and Pakistan increased the lead via quick counterattacks.
Haseem Khan took advantage of the huge gaps at the India defence and scored an opportunistic goal in the 58th minute, pushing the Pakistani lead to three goals.
A flurry of four goals were scored at both ends in the last eight minutes. Dhananjay Mahadik scored from a penalty-corner in the 62nd minute to make it 4-2 but Rehan Butt neutralised it two minutes later to maintain the Pakistan lead to three goals and completed a hat-trick of field goals in the process.

I Will Not Leave Chelsea

Cole has half a year left on his current contract and has yet to sign an extension, but the England star has refuted rumours of a move to another club on a free this summer. "I want nothing more to stay at Chelsea," he told The Daily Mail. "I love it here. It's not a problem. I don't want drama in the papers, either.
"You won't hear my agent running around saying I'm going to this club or that club. I want to be at Chelsea and they know that." Cole has just returned from a bad knee injury and is not featuring regularly for Carlo Ancelotti's Blues. "I've still got a lot to prove," he said. "If I want to play the No 10 position for Chelsea, I've got to get back better than I was before. "I feel like Chelsea are looking at me and saying, 'We want you to prove you can be that player for us'. I've got to prove myself again but that's all right - I've had to prove myself all my life." "I'll put my heart and soul into getting into that team," he said. "You're always disappointed [to be left out], but it just puts more fire in my belly. Don't bet against me when I'm in that frame of mind. "All I need to do is to get back to my best football and I think I'll merit a place in the starting XI. I have faith in myself and my desire to get to the level I was at before. That's the way I'm looking at it. I'm going to try everything in my power."

We Are Looking For Compensation

The forward suffered ankle ligament damage during Holland's friendly against Italy on November 14 and is not expected to return to action until April next year. Wenger, quoted in several Sunday newspapers, said: "We are working on this with our lawyers at the moment and we are definitely going for it. "I expect financial compensation for the damage it can make to the championship and the salary involved. It is especially frustrating to lose your players for the rest of the season in a friendly game." Wenger claims the Dutch federation (KNVB) misdiagnosed the injury.
"Initially, the Dutch FA said it was a small problem and Robin called me to see if he could go and see this Serbian wonder doctor and it was OK.
"It was only when he came back here that we realised there was much more damage. In Holland they have a fight between the national doctor and the guy that did the surgery on Robin. "We just want to go for it because there are a lot of things that have not been done properly after he was injured." The KNVB gave their version of events in a statement issued to Press Association Sport on November 29.
The statement read: "Directly after Robin van Persie got injured in the friendly of the Dutch national team versus Italy, the doctor of the Netherlands team diagnosed an ankle ligament problem.
"The Arsenal striker went to the hospital in Amsterdam on Sunday, where further examination (an MRI scan) confirmed the diagnosis of the medical staff of the Netherlands team - Robin van Persie had a ruptured ligament of his right ankle.
"The medical staff of the KNVB contacted Arsenal club doctor Gary O'Driscoll the same Sunday to inform him about the outcome of the investigation and to transfer the medical record regarding this injury. The scan was also handed over to the medical staff of Arsenal." The issue of compensation for players being injured on international duty is a complex one.
A landmark case involving Belgian club Charleroi and FIFA over a player injured in a friendly international was discontinued after the G14 group of clubs which was supporting Charleroi was superseded by the European Club Association. An agreement has been reached with FIFA and UEFA to pay compensation to clubs for players injured in World Cup or European Championship finals matches, but there is nothing formal in place for qualifiers or friendlies. Some associations, like the Football Association, take out insurance to cover players on international duty. West Ham are reported to be seeking recompense from the FA following the enforced retirement of Dean Ashton, who suffered a serious ankle injury in an England training session in 2006.

Trying To Get Their Wealth Back

Iraq, emerging from the shadow of war, expects to boost its oil output to rival the level of top producer Saudi Arabia after awarding some of its most attractive oilfields to global oil companies this week. By the end on Saturday of a two-day bidding round for 10 oil contracts -- the second auction since the 2003 U.S. invasion -- Iraq had received pledges from oil firms to boost its output by 4.765 million barrels per day, almost double its current output. If all deals from a first auction in June, the second this weekend and others being negotiated are added to national production, Iraq will have a capacity of 12 million barrels per day, overtaking Russia and challenging Saudi Arabia's 12.5 million bpd, Oil Minister Hussain al-Shahristani said.
"This second round marked a major success for the Iraqi government and the Oil Ministry," government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh told Reuters. Some 30 international oil companies braved the threat of violence and attacks to come to Iraq, putting aside security concerns just days after car bombs killed 112 people in Baghdad.
Oil majors from the United States appeared conspicuously uninterested in the fields on offer in the second round, confounding expectations that they might end up with the lion's share of Iraq's oil sector as a result of the U.S.-led war.
Security may still be an issue. The series of car bombs on Tuesday was the third major assault on government buildings in Baghdad in four months and a bloody reminder of the fragile security as Iraq heads into a general election in March. Thousands of Iraqi soldiers and police were deployed in the streets of the capital to protect the auction and army helicopters buzzed overhead. Oil executives travelled around town in convoys of armoured SUVs with armed guards. FIERCE COMPETITION
Amid fierce competition, a group led by Russian energy giant Lukoil won a deal to develop the West Qurna Phase Two oilfield, which with 12.9 billion barrels of reserves is one of the world's largest untapped "supergiant" fields. Supergiants are fields of 5 billion barrels or more. On the first day of the auction on Friday, the 12.6 billion barrel supergiant Majnoon field went to a partnership of Royal Dutch Shell and Malaysia's Petronas . The Russian company's win of West Qurna is made sweeter by the fact it had lobbied unsuccessfully since the 2003 U.S. invasion to revive a Saddam Hussein-era contract for the field. "The terrorists tried to send a message to the companies through the bombings ... that Iraq is unstable and investment will be overshadowed by risks," Shahristani told state television on Friday night.
"But this message was not delivered and never deceived them. They came and submitted competitive offers that surprised the global oil industry." Only two of the five fields on offer on Friday were initially awarded as oil firms steered clear of more dangerous or troublesome areas, including the supergiant East Baghdad oilfield that lies in part under Baghdad's Sadr City slum and fields in the north where violence is still rife. The Qayara field in the north near the violent city of Mosul, which was not awarded on Friday, was won by Angolan state-oil firm Sonangol on Saturday after the company changed its mind about accepting the government's proposed $5 per barrel fee. Sonangol had wanted more than twice that. DOOR OPEN ONLY FOR A WHILE Sonangol on Saturday also won another northern field, Najmah, after accepting a lower fee than it wanted.
But for other fields, the companies actually asked for less than the government was willing to pay. "They were astonishingly low figures. But 2009 will be remembered as the year that Iraq opened its door to the international oil companies and then shut it. It's 10 fields and that's it," said a senior oil executive. "So it's strategic for the oil firms, either you are here or you aren't and this is the chance." Royal Dutch Shell and Malaysia's Petronas won Majnoon with a proposed a fee of $1.39 per barrel and pledging to increase output to 1.8 million bpd, more than double what Iraq expected. Halfaya, with 4.1 billion barrels of reserves, was some consolation. CNPC, Total and Petronas won it with a fee of $1.40 per barrel and a plateau production target of 535,000 bpd. The Lukoil and Statoil partnership for West Qurna Phase Two proposed a fee per barrel of $1.15 and a plateau production level of 1.8 million bpd. The smaller Gharaf field was won by Malaysia's Petronas and Japanese oil company Japex, with a fee of $1.49 per barrel and plateau output target of 230,000 bpd.
Other winners were a group led by Russia's Gazprom for a deal to develop the Badrah oilfield. The group agreed to a $5.50 per barrel fee and a production target of 170,000 bpd. Shahristani told companies that did not manage to grab an oilfield contract not to worry -- Iraq had "scores" of other fields, including supergiants, left to offer, he said.

President Needs Something Concrete Strong

President Barack Obama defended on Saturday a consumer watchdog agency the financial industry wants to weaken or strip from legislation that would strengthen the regulation of Wall Street. The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives on Friday approved the biggest changes in financial regulation since the Great Depression -- a much-needed victory for Obama, whose job approval rating has fallen below 50 percent. He and his fellow Democrats want to impose steps that would avoid a repeat of the meltdown that put the U.S. economy on the brink of collapse a year ago, and he used his weekly radio and Internet address to argue for "common-sense reforms." The bill would create an inter-agency council to police systemic risk in the economy, crack down on hedge funds and credit rating agencies, set up a financial consumer watchdog agency, and expose Federal Reserve monetary policy to unprecedented congressional scrutiny, among other reforms. Republicans and lobbyists for banks and Wall Street firms, whose profits could be threatened, have fought for months to weaken and delay reforms, criticizing what they call an unneeded and costly intrusion on business. The battle will continue for months in the Senate, which is expected to push for more modest legislation. Obama said the new Consumer Financial Protection Agency that would be established would have the power "to put an end to misleading and dishonest practices of banks and institutions" regarding credit and debit cards or mortgage, auto and payday loans. Critics of the new agency charge that it would create more government bureaucracy, stifle innovation and lead to less consumer choice -- claims Obama rejected. "Americans don't choose to be victimized by mysterious fees, changing terms, and pages and pages of fine print. And while innovation should be encouraged, risky schemes that threaten our entire economy should not," he said. Obama, who is under strong political pressure to create jobs and reduce the country's 10 percent jobless rate, said it appeared the economy was turning the corner. "These are good signs for the future but little comfort to all of our neighbors who remain out of a job," he said.

Lots Of Cash To Be Used

With Manchester United in the middle of a defensive injury crisis, Sol Campbell's name had been put forward as a potential solution. The mere fact a 35-year-old, who enjoyed his best days at Arsenal four seasons ago, was being linked with a move to Old Trafford fuelled speculation about the money Ferguson has at his disposal.
Critics of the Glazer family have never been scared of outlining their doomsday scenario for a club whose current debt stands at £790million, and are convinced the bulk of a world record £80million transfer fee received for Cristiano Ronaldo will go towards massive interest payments. It is a stance that is condemned forcibly by sources close to the owners, who have always claimed Ferguson has the money to spend and it is his decision alone to keep the bulk of it. And, in flattening any prospect of Campbell ending up at United, Ferguson has emphasised his view there is no value in players who might be available.
"It has been said I do not have the money so I want to get someone cheap. It is nonsense," he said. "I don't know where the Sol Campbell story came from. He has had a great career but he is not of any interest to us. "I am happy with the players I already have at the club. At this moment we are having a hard time with the centre-backs but I am sure by January we will have most of them will be back. "The money is there if I wanted to use it. I didn't see any value in the summer and I don't see any value now either." In fact, Ferguson does not see the situation changing for some considerable time. He was blown out of the water by Real Madrid when he bid £30million for Karim Benzema and while the precise figures have never been revealed, it is thought Manchester City paid well over the £27million United were due to give Kia Joorabchian to acquire Carlos Tevez's registration. It was part of a two-pronged assault on the transfer market that sent prices sky high.
Traditional big spenders such as Chelsea and United have been forced to decide whether to follow suit, or opt out altogether. Despite arguments to the contrary, Ferguson is the one who chose the latter option at Old Trafford. "Last summer was the silly season," he added. "Prices paid, or asked for about players we may have been interested in were not real. That is why I didn't do anything. "I could spend the money but I am looking for value and it is possible that might not be there for a while." Instead, Ferguson has intensified a search for younger players to develop. Awarding home-grown youngster Danny Welbeck a new contract that will keep him at United until 2013 is part of that strategy, as was the proposed £10million transfer of Adem Ljajic, only for United to pull out of a deal for the Partizan Belgrade youngster when it became apparent he would not get a work permit.
But there are others, including Senegal's Mame Biram Diouf, who was signed from Norwegian club Molde in the summer, but who has impressed at United's Carrington training complex recently.
"He has been absolutely brilliant," said Ferguson. "He is very exciting and we will apply for a work permit in January. "That is the kind of situation we are good at. Developing young players at the club and, at 21, he is looking very good."
Of the 14 senior players missing in Wolfsburg on Tuesday, four will return against Aston Villa today. In addition to Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov, Nemanja Vidic is back to partner Michael Carrick in central defence. Against a side that could easily utilise John Carew and Emile Heskey in attack, having Vidic available after a flu virus could be vital. "Nemanja is particularly important against Villa because they do cross the ball a lot," said Ferguson.

To One Can Say Who Is Greater

The Colombian netted his second of the game just seconds after Burak Kaplan looked to have won it for the visitors. Toni Kroos had levelled for Bayer in the 76th minute - a minute before Hertha had Gojko Kacar sent off. Hertha came into the game having taken just two points from a possible 42, but they got off to a flying start as Ramos put them ahead in the eighth minute, slotting a shot past Rene Adler from the right side of the area. At the other end, Eren Derdiyok met Tranquillo Barnetta's left-wing cross but headed straight at Jaroslav Drobny. The Hertha keeper was helped out by his defence in the 36th minute, though, when he unconvincingly palmed away Gonzalo Castro's cross. Victory for Bayer would have moved them six points clear at the top of the table, and they were almost level three minutes after the break. Stefan Kiessling's fine strike from the left channel was tipped over the bar from Drobny.
And the pressure on Hertha told with 14 minutes remaining as Kroos chested the ball down following Barnetta's left-wing corner a struck a half-volley into the bottom right corner from just outside the area. Things went from bad to worse for the hosts when Kacar was shown a second yellow card for throwing the ball away, having been penalised for a foul. And Bayer looked to have snatched victory in the 90th minute when Kaplan's low drive took a wicked deflection which deceived Drobny, the ball looping past the helpless keeper and into the bottom left corner when it had looked destined for the right.

Fashion Makes Lots Of Defference

My girlfriend who is very much interested dressing in new style and asks me to look for new fashion for internet. I normally browse a lot for my girl and get new style from internet and made her happy with that. But at one point I couldn’t find any new fashion and she started getting annoyed. I was discussing this to my best friend to whom I used to discuss all my personal; he gave me a wonderful idea. He asked me to divert her interest by gifting a dog. But I don’t know where to find a good breed of dogs another friend suggested this website Rhodesian Ridgeback good breed of dogs. The Rhodesian Ridgeback is dog breed developed in Southern Africa where it was used (amongst other things) to hunt lion. This is most likely why this dog is known for its bravery. I Did that and she was first not very much interested to play with that but later after she spent just 30 minutes with it. She was not ready to go away from it, and she named it as raki and she took raki to her place. Next day morning she completely forget about her new fashion, she was talking about raki for more than a hour to me.

Hairstyle Makes Lots Of Difference

I and my friend have visited lots of website regarding new hairstyles. I visited almost 30 to 50 website a day but I couldn’t find any new hairstyle. Later we were started getting bored of this and we started to visiting some other post. Once my cousin was saying about making money online, First I didn’t believe but later once I came across this website Make Money Online Free I believed there is really something true. But now a days making money online is really easy. These kinds of website are really useful to those who are ready to work from home. I was forced to spend lots of money for my girl friend who used asks me for lots of new dress. Website like this really helping me a lot, and I’m sure it will be helpful for you also.

Still These Legends Having Offers

Despite passing their 36th and 35th birthdays respectively - and in Scholes' case personal doubt over his present contribution to the Manchester United cause - Ferguson is convinced the pair are important enough to remain at Old Trafford for another 12 months. "Ryan will be offered a new contract for next season, which is an indication of what we think of him coming up to 37 next season, and Paul knows he will be offered one as well," Ferguson said. It could be the start of a very big weekend for Giggs, who returns to action against Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Saturday before heading to Sheffield for Sunday's prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards. Giggs is one of 10 candidates on the shortlist for the main prize, alongside the likes of Formula One world champion Jenson Button and new world heavyweight boxing champion David Haye.
Candidates from team sports do not often get their name engraved on the famous trophy but, after a career that has spanned almost 20 years and a trophy collection which includes 11 league titles and two European Cups, Ferguson feels Giggs deserves the highest recognition. "We hope Ryan gets the reward he deserves," said the Manchester United boss. "Consistency and longevity is not always rewarded. Look at Tony McCoy for instance. He has never won any of these awards but he has been top jockey for many years. "Sometimes a young person who comes on the scene in one year can win it. "But if Ryan hasn't got a chance what would that say?" The most remarkable feature of Giggs' life is how unaffected he seems to be by all the adulation he has received.
Thrust into the limelight at such a young age, the former Welsh skipper flirted with the attention David Beckham has grabbed so assiduously and decided it was not for him. Yet he remains polite and likeable, aware of his wider responsibilities and, through his work with children's charity Unicef, uses his status for a greater purpose. "Ryan is an example to young people," said Ferguson. "He has humility and he has never changed and I think he is having his best years now. "He has retained that amazing quality in his game and also an enthusiasm to play." Scholes has not changed either. He never liked attention and still does not, preferring to get back to his family in Saddleworth at the earliest available opportunity rather than endorse products and maximise his commercial earnings.
He is also acutely aware of the impact he makes on a football field and - as he did with England in 2004 - perfectly capable of turning his back on parts of his career without a second thought. It is why last week's self-analysis was interpreted as clearing the way for retirement, even if it was not quite what he intended.
"I spoke to Paul and he said he didn't actually say he was thinking of his future," Ferguson said. "When you get to that age every player starts to think about what the future holds for him. "But when you see Paul's performances at West Ham and in Wolfsburg last week there is no reason to think he can't do it again next year again.
"Maybe he thinks he should be playing every game. That's fine, but I know that's not fair.

Fastest Man In Football Field

Der Spiegel, a weekly German publication, stated that Ronaldo topped the speed charts at 33.6km per hour (20.88mph).
The Portuguese forward edged the likes of Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich) who came in second at 32.9 kmph, Theo Walcott of Arsenal (32.7) and Wayne Rooney of Man United (32.6). Arsenal striker Robin van Persie was fifth at 32.1kmph.
Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi was not even in the top five.
It seems that Ronaldo's sprint training with sprint king Usain Bolt seems to have paid off. Perhaps Ronaldo should also adopt a cheetah instead of a peacock.

Considering The New Points Systems Again

The idea has been proposed by the F1 Commission, made up of key stakeholders from the teams, promoters, suppliers and sponsors, and chaired by president Bernie Ecclestone. Ecclestone had hoped to introduce a medals system, based on race victories, prior to the start of this season, only for it to be shelved. With the grid set to expand to 13 teams from next season, the F1 Commission that met in Monaco for the first time in its new structure since the signing of the new Concorde Agreement, has instead suggested a radically different points tally. The winner would claim 25 points, the runner-up 20, third place 15, fourth place 10, fifth place would take eight, and then sixth to 10th would earn six, five, three, two and one point respectively. That is in contrast to the current top eight earning points on a 10, eight, six, five, four, three, two, one basis respectively.
The suggestion will go before the World Motor Sport Council that sits in Monaco on Friday for final approval, along with a number of other amendments to the technical and sporting regulations. A strong mandate has also been given to the Sporting Working Group, a sub-committee of the F1 Commission made up of the FIA and F1 teams, to develop detailed proposals to improve the show which will take effect from next year. The FIA and FOM (Ecclestone's Formula One Management) are to further collaborate to enhance the communication and promotion of the championship to the media and its worldwide fanbase.

Best Crowd Control

In our present situation there is a high level of population increase. All of us go to shopping malls, theatres, airports and lot many places of public contacts. Not only in cases of large crowd but also in several work places it is necessary that we are directed in the proper direction. In some places we should make people maintain a proper line or queue. Do you think it is possible manually? Can we employ some staffs at each point of the building and other places and help to direct us accordingly? No, it is not possible. But still crowd control places a very important role. This is achieved in most places with the help of stanchions. These can be either retraceable belts, velvet rope or many other accessories. These crowd control products help and guide people to maintain and be in line at the bank, political meeting, for concerts, grocery stores, ticket bookings and anywhere else. There are several shops and sites that provide us with these crowd control belts. We can even make use of the camelback displays to shop these stanchions. You can get stanchions for public guidance, signage, In-line retail and security products. These can be velvet ropes, room divider ropes or chain and even barricades. It is very important to control the crowd and direct them in the proper ways at lot many times. This can be achieved to a great extent with the room dividers, signage, public guidance chains and velvet ropes and many other forms of stanchions can also be used. Proper guidance of the public helps increase the quality of work carried out at the place.
