SYMPTOMS OF SWINE FLU:

The most disadvantageous thing about the swine flu causing A H1N1 virus is that it has the symptoms that are similar to that of the other common flu virus. So it is becoming very difficult for the public to detect the disease at an early stage.

Most of the common symptom is fever which is usually high, but unlike seasonal flu, is sometimes absent . The other symptoms include cough, stuffy nose, sore throat also. Body aches, head ache, chills, fatigue or tiredness are the other symptoms which can be extreme. Persistent diarrhea and vomiting are little rare but it will be more commonly seen than the seasonal flu. These are just the most basic level of symptoms.

The symptoms of a very serious swine flu infection might also include pneumonia and respiratory failure. So the major symptoms for a very serious infection also include fast breathing or change in skin color into bluish or grayish color. The patient may not drink enough fluids. The individual might be accompanied by severe or persistent vomiting and he might not interact properly.

So these are the symptoms about which the public has to be aware of and take the needful measures.

PREVENTION For Swine Flu

As always ‘prevention is better than cure ‘, public has to be made aware of the preventive measures against swine flu.

The first level of preventive measure includes preventing it initially by vaccinations, herd management and facility management.
Several standard swine flu vaccines are effectively available in controlling the infection when the virus strains match enough to have significant cross protection. Since the other resources are due to the close contact of the farmers with the pigs, the farmers were requested to use face masks while treating with infected animals.

The major occurrence is through spread among humans. This mainly occurs through coughing and sneezing because of which the infection spreads through air. Frequent washing of hands with soap and water will help us free from germs. Use of alcohol based liquids or sanitizers will also be very essential.

If an individual detects the symptoms, he has to immediately get into the medication and rapid tests that has to be undergone for the disease. Immediate medication will reduce the prognosis of the disease. Special anti-viral drugs will also be a part of the medication. Wearing masks while going out will also prevent or reduce the spread of the disease. It is advised not to have close proximity with the infected person.

It is always stays with respect to the infected people who have the major opportunities to spread the disease. So the affected or the symptomatic people must stay at home, avoid crowds and take off from schools or work. This will help to reduce the major spread of the disease.

Cause For Swinw Flu

This virus mostly affects the pigs and not the humans. The major rise of this disease is due to the reason that this particular A (H1N1) virus has got the components of pig and bird influenza viruses in it because of which the humans do not have the immunity towards the disease. This has made the disease ‘a pandemic viral disease’ which means that it has the ability to cause a global outbreak as it can spread from person to person.

As this virus causes acute secondary respiratory infections, it may spread very easily in a polluted atmosphere. Hence it is known as ‘swine flu’. This flu rarely affects the humans but the current outbreak is due to a new influenza A virus subtype H1N1, which is a derivative of swine influenza virus.

The WHO (world heath organization) reports that strains have not been isolated from swine. This viral infection passes among the humans easily that has ability to an unidentified mutation.
