Jenson Button Ready For The Good Fight

Button signed for the McLaren team earlier this week, ending a long relationship with Brawn GP, with whom he won his first driver's title this year.
He said: "Moving to McLaren is the buzz I need, fighting against Lewis. "Winning the world championship was my aim and I've achieved that, I want to go out there and have fun and fight against Lewis. "I hope that when we go out head to head I come out on top but I don't know that, nobody knows that, that's why it's a proper challenge."
He said 2008 champion Hamilton would have an advantage because of his long-term involvement with the team but added: "I'm going to work very hard over this winter so I feel comfortable when we come to the first race." On Friday, Button, 29, met fans and signed copies of his new book, race diary My Championship Year, at Waterstone's in Bristol. He said it was fitting the foreword to the book was written by Brawn team boss Ross Brawn, despite the recent announcement, adding: "We've been through a lot together, you can't forget what we've achieved.
"We spent a lot of time together, I've been with them for seven years. "I respect Ross a lot and I think he understands my decision. For me, 2010 is all about challenges, I came into Forumla one to win the world championship and that's what I did in my 10th season. "After I did achieve that I thought 'so now I've achieved this what's in store for me? What's the best option?'
"I personally think fighting with Lewis at McLaren is a challenge and a half but I'm willing to take it." He added: "The Brawn GP team have given me something I always wanted in this sport and I've given them something in return - the world championship.

F1 Focussing On India

"We are waiting for the circuit to be constructed. The foundation stone would be laid in late October. I will be in India to lay the foundation stone," he said.
Ecclestone made light of sports minister M S Gill's view that Formula One was not a sport."Everybody is entitled to their views. That's the good or the bad part of democracy. If the Sports Minister doesn't think it's a sport, I can't do much about it. That's his view. "Let's see, when I come there in October. I would meet with people and see what is the best way to move forward," Ecclestone said.
Ecclestone, a former Formula One driver himself, was impressed with Force India's second-place finish at the Belgian Grand Prix last week. "Force India should have won actually. They were unlucky. "It's good to see Vijay's (Mallya) team doing well. He has done a good job for Force India," he said.

Alonson-Im Surprised

After finishing seventh in the European Grand Prix in Valencia on Sunday, Button claimed he needs to be more aggressive if he is to be crowned champion.

After claiming just 11 points from the last four races, Button has seen his lead whittled down, although the gap to Brawn GP team-mate Rubens Barrichello is still a healthy 18 points.

Alonso can at least appreciate Button's sentiments after being in the 29-year-old's position en route to winning his titles in 2005 and 2006.

However, the Spaniard admits his more prudent approach did not start to kick in until he was on the cusp of claiming motor sport's biggest prize.

"I did become more cautious, but not until further ahead," stated Alonso. "Now there is still a lot of the championship to run.

"I'm sure with two or three races to go and if he (Button) keeps this advantage and he can mathematically be champion in Singapore or Japan, then he will be very cautious.

"In those races you can feel it, knowing you only need a couple of points, so you start to become more stressed about the situation, but normally everything is fine."

The critics are starting to sharpen their pencils after witnessing the derailing of Button's championship charge during the last four grands prix which have yielded a meagre 11 points.

Brawn GP team principal Ross Brawn and Button initially bemoaned the cool conditions at Silverstone and the Nurburgring for their lack of performance in the British and German Grands Prix.

In Hungary, it was the slow-speed nature of the Hungaroring that proved their downfall as they again failed to get sufficient heat into the car's Bridgestone tyres.

In Valencia for the European Grand Prix four days ago, there were no excuses as temperatures soared into the mid-30s centigrade.

Instead it was a rare mistake in qualifying from 29-year-old Button that compromised his race, one in which he was forced to yield at the first corner to one of his title rivals in Sebastian Vettel.

These are the signs, so the critics are saying, Button is beginning to wilt under the strain of leading the championship as it draws to its denouement.

Schumi Might Return To Action Once Again

In the Hungarian Grand Prix in the qualification round Ferari’s driver Felipe Massa was badly injured. To replace him it might be the seven times world record Champion Michael Schumacher might replace him for short time of period. Sources says is past 24 hours Massa has shown good improvement and it is very short to tell that he will be action or not. He has since responded well to questions and Peter Bazso, the medical director of the hospital, claimed this morning Massa might be able to walk out of the hospital in 10 days' time.

Fereri's Driver Felipe Massa who met with an horrible accident on Saturday in Hungarian Grand Prix. Is now in very bad condition and more over he might not came to race career once again. "As we speak he is sleepy, but he gives adequate answers to the questions we ask him, and he can move his arms and legs spontaneously". "Right now he has no fever, and we have removed the drain tube from his wound. Further improvement of his condition can be expected" Colonel doctor Lajos Zsiros of the AEK military hospital in Budapest said.
